The Latina Healing Institute

About Us

Our story

Ana and Alani met seven years ago, while working human trafficking cases in Latin America.

They connected over their shared passion for helping others and quickly discovered a natural synergy in their work together. However, one pivotal factor deepened their bond: both understood the unique experience of being Latinas in predominantly white spaces—the challenges, the obstacles, and the importance of women of color uplifting and supporting one another on the path to success.

With this shared understanding, our founders established the Latina Healing Institute (LHI) to extend their experiences to other Latinas. LHI creates a space for healing where Latinas can find support, community, strength, and joy in one another. At the same time, it offers professional tools to boost confidence and unlock potential, empowering women to become the best versions of themselves.

Before becoming Dr. Sierra, I was simply Ana, Anita, Nita, or Ms. Sierra. I’m still all of those, but earning the title of “Dr.” is something I could have never imagined as a 14-year-old immigrant from Honduras. I faced countless barriers—being a woman in a male-dominated world, a Latina, and a Spanish speaker in an English-speaking environment. Yet, my story isn’t just about those obstacles; it’s about overcoming them and achieving my goals. I know firsthand the struggles of being a successful Latina in the United States, and my journey is a testament to resilience and determination.

CPC, ELI-MP

I grew up as an army brat, born to Puerto Rican parents who escaped poverty through the power of education. My family moved frequently across the U.S. and Latin America, and during those formative years, I witnessed firsthand how Latinx countries and cultures were being devastated by the illicit drug trade. This experience shaped my life’s purpose. Over the course of my 20-year career as a special agent at both the federal and state levels, I dedicated myself to protecting and uplifting the most vulnerable—women and children.
