The Latina Healing Institute

About Us

Our story

Ana and Alani met seven years ago, while working human trafficking cases in Latin America.

They bonded over their shared passion for helping others through their work, and came soon to realize that they had great synergy when working together. But there was one other crucial factor that cemented their friendship: they both knew what it is like to be a Latina in white dominated spaces – the hardships and challenges that come with it, and how important it is for women of color to encourage and support each other in their journeys towards success.

Our founders decided to start the Latina Healing Institute to share this experience with their fellow Latina sisters. The LHI aims to provide a space of healing where Latinas can find support, community, strength and joy in each other while also providing professional tools to bolster their confidence and develop their potential in order to achieve the best version of themselves.

Dr. Ana Sierra

Prior to being Dr. Sierra, I was simply Ana, Anita, Nita, or Ms. Sierra, I still am but this added identity was something that I could have never imagined as a 14-year-old who had just immigrated from Honduras. Facing numerous barriers due to being a woman in a man’s world, being Latina and Spanish speaking only in an English-speaking environment, my story is more than the barriers but the ability to overcome and achieve my goals despite them. I know firsthand what it is like to struggle as a successful Latina in the United States.

CPC, ELI-MP

I grew up as an army brat, born to Puerto Rican parents who escaped lives of poverty thanks to the gift of education. Throughout my childhood, my family traveled all over the US and Latin America. During these formative years, I observed how Latinx countries and cultures were being ravaged by the illicit drug trade. This experience would inspire me to find my life’s purpose, and throughout my subsequent 20-year career as a special agent at the federal and state level, I made it my mission to protect and uplift the most vulnerable – women and children.
