Being Latina is complex in a world that is not ready to receive our inner strength and power.

Latina…

  • You take care of it all.
  • You can endure a tremendous amount of pain/stress.
  • Society expects you to be perfect or else.
  • Everyone depends on you; you do not get a break.
  • You are held accountable for challenges in your family.
  • You are responsible for stepping up to solve problems.
  • Bearing the pressure makes you a better woman, it shows you’re strong, right?

Our ancestors lived through pressures that were unimaginable. We still see that pressure today. Intergenerational trauma refers to those experiences that were passed down through our DNA from generations of women who survived. They didn’t just pass down trauma, they also passed down their incredible strength, power, determination, nurture, and leadership.

As Latinas, we have learned to do it all to survive. It is time to not only survive, but to thrive and achieve our highest potential. It is time to be vulnerable to show strength, to delegate responsibilities to others, to take breaks designed for you, and to find internal peace. The universe is moving to a new beat, it is time for you, Latina, to shine. We are so thrilled to have this space and come together as we can only heal in community. Our ancestors were right, they survived so you can thrive!

Latina

  • Take a rest.
  • Delegate to others their share of the work.
  • Be vulnerable, express yourself, know that asking for help is strength.
  • The world will keep spinning, meditate.
  • Connect emotionally with others, not to solve or fix, but to share being human.
  • Create your circle of support, the society you can be at peace with.
  • Know that your ancestors are proud of you, you fulfilled their dreams.
  • Know that your ancestors have never left your side, take comfort in their presence.

In this women’s history month, let’s honor them with taking care of our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirit. Most importantly, let’s do it in community.
